Three songs for soprano, clarinet, double-bass and harp. The poems are by Georges Fourest (1867-1945), and are taken from his collection La Négresse blonde, published by Messein in 1909 (reissued in 1986 by José Corti), which established his literary reputation. The three poems are  Les poissons mélomanes, Le vieux saint and Sardines à l’huile. Chansons dévotes et poissonneuses was commissioned by The Hermes Experiment, who premièred it at L’Aura des Arts Festival, Aubazine, France on September 20th 2014. They have also performed it at St John’s, Smith Square in London, and at various UK festivals – including the Fishguard Festival on 29th July 2017.
